About Us
The Point Pleasant Fire District proudly serves as one of four fire districts within the Town of Irondequoit, New York. Our designated coverage area includes all properties north of Titus Avenue, east of Oakview Drive, west of Irondequoit Bay, and south of Sweet Fern Road. Within these boundaries, we provide fire protection and emergency medical services to approximately 2,600 residents.
As a combination fire department, our team consists of both dedicated volunteers and part-time paid professionals. This hybrid staffing model allows us to ensure consistent and effective response coverage during the daytime and evening hours. Our firefighters, EMTs, and fire police personnel respond from two fire stations, utilizing a modern fleet that includes:
-
Two Class A Engines
-
A Mini/Attack Pumper
-
A Heavy Rescue Truck
-
A Squad Utility Vehicle
With over 50 active members, we are committed to delivering the highest standard of care, safety, and professionalism to our community.

Our Stations
Station #1 - Ewer Avenue
Located at the historic intersection of Point Pleasant Road and Ewer Avenue, Station #1 has been a focal point of fire service in the district since the early 20th century. The original firehouse, built in 1918, was positioned facing Point Pleasant Road and served the community faithfully for decades. As the needs of the district grew, so too did the need for a more modern facility.
Construction of the current Station #1 was completed in May of 1962. Demonstrating a deep sense of ownership and commitment, department members actively participated in the building process, providing nightly labor and logistical support. Only essential trades - such as structural erection, plumbing, and heating - were contracted out. Thanks to these efforts, the project was completed ahead of schedule and $15,000 under its original $80,000 budget, totaling just $65,000.
This station features:
-
A three-bay apparatus room (70' x 40')
-
Radio/dispatch room
-
Line officers’ office
-
Commissioners’ office
-
Association banquet room (40' x 40')
-
Full kitchen
-
Association administrative offices
Station #1 remains the operational and historical heart of the Point Pleasant Fire District.
Station #2 - North Kings Highway
Station #2 was originally constructed in 1957 to support expanding fire and EMS operations in the district’s northern sector. The facility initially housed two truck bays on its southern side. Recognizing the need for additional capacity and modern amenities, a significant expansion was completed in 1983. This addition included two more truck bays on the north side, an upgraded radio/dispatch center, and additional interior space to accommodate training and member needs.
Station #2 now includes:
-
Four total apparatus bays
-
A dedicated training classroom
-
A member lounge with television and rest area
-
An upgraded communications room
Located behind this station is the Robert McGrail Training Facility, a vital asset to the district’s ongoing commitment to firefighter education and readiness. This facility enables our members to participate in hands-on training, simulations, and continuing education programs without leaving the district.
