The Point Pleasant Pea Pickers Drill Team earned a first-place finish at the Spencerport Firematic Drill on Saturday, competing against some of the best firematic drill teams from across Western New York.

The competition remained close throughout the day and came down to the final event. The Pea Pickers sealed the victory with a strong performance in Buckets, securing the overall win in dramatic fashion. The victory marks the team's first tournament win since July 2024, making the accomplishment even more meaningful.

The achievement is a testament to the team's dedication, discipline, and countless hours of practice.

The Pea Pickers will next compete at the New York State Drill on Saturday, August 15, in Hempstead, Long Island. Fans who can't attend can watch the action live on YouTube through NYSFDracing. The team will then return home to host the Point Pleasant Invitational Drill on Saturday, August 22, at the track in the valley, 257 Kings Highway North. The invitational will feature eleven teams, including five or more drill teams from Long Island, allowing spectators to watch some of the region's top competitors in action.

The Point Pleasant Fire District congratulates the Pea Pickers on an outstanding performance. Comprised of active firefighters beginning at age 17, the drill team provides members with an opportunity to develop teamwork, sharpen firefighting skills, build lasting friendships, and carry on a proud tradition of volunteer service.
